Service Description

Welcome to our new Predation Games Workshop for hunting breeds that have a high drive for tracking, chasing, and capturing wildlife, or perhaps untested but evident around toys. We're talking hounds, terriers, lurchers, spaniels, or any breed that gets high off predation. All dogs still exhibit modal action patterns that exist in the predatory motor sequence (the stages of a hunt and capture). Humans have intentionally bred in and out different stages of this sequence to gain better companions and hunting partners. By using the natural behaviours and drive, we can channel the energy and give outlets for these needs, in such a way that is safe for everyone. We've developed this workshop to bring you a better understanding of your dog, their needs, and a handful of really fun games that will engage the minds of your hunting dog, as well as provide appropriate outlets for the behaviours that you may see as undesirable in daily life. After all, it's what they were bred to do... (No wildlife is present at the workshop) The session will be held at The Willows Doggy Daycare at Dunton Bassett (formerly Completely K9), on our field. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather, and feel free to bring a bottle of water. If your dog has a favourite toy, bring that too! I will assess whether we have all dogs out together of separate practice sessions, depending on the personalities of the dogs attending. This means that dogs need to be comfortable being left in the car between exercises. Please note that we cannot have dogs who have a significant bite history, of show reactive behaviours towards people in these group sessions. I may be able to make exceptions for dogs that already attend the school via separating fences but please ask. Bookings are non refundable and non transferable so please check the dates carefully.
